I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award! Read on to find out what’s it all about and to learn a few things about me!
I’m so honored to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Coty and Mariah from Quirks and Twists! Their blog is wonderful and I urge you all to check it out!
The Liebster Award is where bloggers nominate other bloggers. It’s meant to get the word out on newer and smaller blogs, which helps us all reach more readers and discover some new blogs along the way! Below you’ll find my answers to the questions and a list of my nominations. Enjoy! π
How did you get the name for your blog?
I have wanted to start a food blog for years, but put it off because I couldn’t come up with a name or concept that I truly fell in love with. One day while I was at work I decided I wasn’t putting it off any longer. I started texting with my sister and she suggested including fashion in the name because I love fashion.
I settled on Fashionable Foods pretty quickly, texted Kyle who looked up the domain name and bought it! It all happened so fast that I hadn’t thought about what the name actually meant to me. Then, it hit me. Fashion and food are closely related – both have trends and everyone has their own style when it comes to cooking and eating. This was definitely a concept that I fell in love with!
Why did you start blogging?
Food is pretty much my life – always has been and always will be. It’s the one thing I can talk about all day and never get tired of it I think about food all the time and am always hungry! I was torn between going to culinary school or to PSU for nutritional sciences. I ended up choosing nutrition, which I absolutely love, but couldn’t do a nutrition related job every single day. I realized I wasn’t passionate enough about it during my senior year, so I chose not to apply for a dietetic internship. I didn’t know what the future would hold, but I knew I made the right decision.
I moved home and got a job in retail, which I actually loved for most of time there. During the last year there, I became very unhappy and knew I needed to get out – too many negative changes were happening that I didn’t want to be a part of. I started my blog during the last few months of my job and then Kyle got a job here in Delaware. I left my job, moved here with him and am pursing my opportunity to see where blogging came take me. I love writing and I love food – enough said π
What is your favorite food?
Popcorn. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be this recipe. I know, out of all the options out there, I choose popcorn. I don’t even have an explanation for it – I just love it!
If you could have anyone’s closet, who would you choose?
Can I have 2? Kerry Washington because her style is confident and put together. Also, Lauren Conrad because I love how classy and girly she always looks!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Most of my time is consumed by cooking, but I love being outside in my spare time. Whether it be walking, running, gardening, or just lounging in the sun I love the outdoors. I also love spending time with my fiancΓ©, Kyle. Reading and watching youtube videos are things I love doing when I have downtime. Oh, and of course shopping!
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I have so many places I want to travel, but Italy is number one on my list.
Are you a cat or dog person?
Both! I love my cat, Basil and I love my parent’s dog (who is also kind of my dog), Molly. I was also fortunate enough to have a dog throughout my childhood, Toby. He was quite the troublemaker, but lived a very happy life!
Top: Basil, Bottom: Molly
Do you like meeting new people?
Yes and no. If I meet someone and have common interests then I’m happy and can talk for hours. Otherwise I find it hard to keep a conversation going – I really hate small talk. I find it pretty annoying to answer question after question about myself – I’d rather things like that come up in conversation. Does that make sense?
What is the best gift you ever received?
I couldn’t pick just one…
My kitchen aid mixer that my parents bought me a few years ago for Christmas – I couldn’t live without it and I use it all the time. Also, a diamond starfish necklace from Tiffany’s that Kyle bought me for our 5 year anniversary – I was so beyond excited when I opened that gift that I’ll never forget it!
If you had one wish, what would it be?
To meet my grandfathers. Both of them passed away before I was born, so I only know them from pictures and stories. I’m pretty sure I would have gotten along very well with both of them and I very much wish I could have met them.
Here are some of my favorite blogs that I am nominating. All you have to do is answer the questions and then nominate your favorite blogs!

Was so fun learning more about you! I love popcorn too. I always have a mason jar full of popcorn kernels just waiting to be popped. I have got to try out your cheesy version. I used to work in retail too, at Nordstrom. It was fun in the beginning, but pretty soon I realized almost my entire paycheck was going straight back to them. Shopping was too easy and cheap with my discount! Haha!

Oh yes, a big chunk of my paycheck went back to the store. I give props to anyone that can work in a store and actually keep their paycheck!

Loved reading this post, Keri! I think my favorite part is that you named your cat Basil. I might steal that for a future pet’s name ;).

Thanks, Annie! I put SO much thought into naming her. I was in high school then and had a big list of names. I was obsessed with fresh basil at the time, so that name was at the top of the list haha. I just couldn’t decided on a name, but when I went to pick her up from the farm I was getting her from I took one look at her and knew she was going to be Basil. Such a great pet name π
